Single implants and their restoration
Achieving your intended outcome with endosseous implant therapy requires careful planning and execution of both the surgical and prosthodontic aspects of treatment. Seamless integration of these two phases of care is vital. Attaining your final treatment outcome typically is based on a number of factors: a comprehensive evaluation of the patient, obtaining the required records, a thorough understanding of the possibilities and limitations inherent in both the surgical and prosthodontic phases of different treatment options, developing and communicating a definitive treatment plan to the patient, and patient acceptance of that treatment plan.
eBook: The Temporomandibular Joint
The Temporomandibular Joint
It was late 1980 or early 1981 that the idea was conceived investigate X-Ray Computed Tomography (CT) [CAT scan] as a means of radiographic examination and study of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) in greater detail than was previously possible. Shortly thereafter a visit was made to the Section of Neuroradiology at Loma Linda University Medical Center and a question was posed to Dr. Joseph Thompson, MD, F.A.C.RC: “Is is possible to do CAT scans of TMJ patients? After a moment’s reflection he replied “I don’t see why not.” One question—one answer was the beginning of a near decade-long mutually productive collaboration between a dentist and a neuroradiologist. But ours was not the first work done with CT and the TMJ: That distinction, as best we know, belongs to Suarez (1980).
