Steve Parel

Biography

Dr. Stephen Parel received his dental degree from The Medical College of Virginia in 1969. He completed a general practice and 2-year Prosthodontics Residency with the VA System in 1972, followed by a year of Maxillofacial Prosthetics training in Houston at the M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute. He became a faculty member in the University of Texas System in 1975, rising to the rank of full professor in the San Antonio Medical and Dental Schools in 1978. From 1998 to 2008, he directed the Maxillofacial Prosthetics program at Baylor College of Dentistry, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, and for the last 5 years has been in a Dallas, Texas, private practice specializing in Implant Dentistry.

Complete mouth rehabilitation of patient with terminal dentition

This patient presented with multiple decayed teeth and both periodontal and occlusal breakdown. She had a past history of drug abuse. Since the existing teeth could not be restored because of the extensive damage, the All-on-4® treatment concept was used in both arches.
