Early implant placement following single tooth extraction in the esthetic zone
A 35-year-old male patient with hopeless tooth #12 FDI (#7 US) had to be extracted. The active and persisiting infection in this esthetic area made it impossible to place an implant immediately or perform any kind of socket preservation procedure. Temporization after tooth extraction during the healing phases (after extraction and after implant placement) was achieved using a removable partial denture.
The implant was placed with the early loading approach combined with a GBR procedure to restore the missing buccal bone wall. 3 months after implant placement the implant was loaded with a temporary screw-retained single crown and restored with the definitive crown 6 months after implant placement.
The patient had very high esthetic expectations and was referred for implant treatment. The maintenance and aftercare will be performed by the referring clinician. Total treatment time was 6 months from day of surgery until delivery of the definitive prosthesis.
