Clinical Post-Operative Steps

Immediately after completing a surgery, the clinician / surgeon should check for the following items chairside in the OR:

• No hemorrhaging present (all bleeding stopped)
• Sterile gauze pads are firmly in place
• All needles and surgical blades separated, counted and accounted for
• Blood-contaminated litter separated and adequately processed
• Removable denture returned to patient and adjusted
