Clinical Post-Operative Steps
Immediately after completing a surgery, the clinician / surgeon should check for the following items chairside in the OR:
- No hemorrhaging present (all bleeding stopped)
- Sterile gauze pads are firmly in place
- All needles and surgical blades separated, counted and accounted for
- Blood-contaminated litter separated and adequately processed
- Removable denture returned to patient and adjusted
