Sebastian Horvath: Solid strategies for patient acceptance and predictable treatment success

The ultimate challenge in dentistry is the creation of a comprehensive, individual treatment plan that leads to a desired and complication-free result. This plan should incorporate the best scientific evidence with regard to the patient’s problems, the clinical expertise of the dentist, as well as the patient’s wishes and preferences. However, a treatment plan by itself does not lead to the execution of the treatment. It also has to be communicated in a professional way that renders patient acceptance. Once the treatment is commenced, the entire dental team has to apply strategies that focus on the predictability of the treatment result both in the short-, as well as the long-term. This presentation outlines a set of solid strategies that may be used in the daily practice to achieve these goals.

Dr. Sebastian Horvath maintains a private practice focused on esthetic reconstructive dentistry in Jestetten, Germany. He graduated and received his doctoral degree (Dr. med. dent.) from the University of Freiburg in 2008. From 2009-2012 he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Prosthodontics (Chair: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. J.R. Strub), University Hospital Freiburg, Germany. Parallel to the clinical work Dr. Horvath is involved in clinical research and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences (Chair: Prof. Dr. M.B. Blatz), University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Horvath is a board-certified Prosthodontist of the German Society of Prosthodontics and Dental Materials (DGPro) and has received certification for oral implantology (DGI) and esthetic dentistry (DGÄZ). In 2012, he was recipient of the "Young Esthetics Award" by the German Association of Esthetic Dentistry (DGÄZ).
