Oded Bahat: Surgical and esthetic treatment in three dimensions
Video highlights
- Three-dimensional reconstruction of the maxillary ridge and its relationship to intra- and extra-oral esthetics
- Guidelines for facial esthetics
- Blood supply is the most critical factor for successful 3 D grafting
- New York 2013 symposium presentation
The lecture gives insight in principles and protocols for the three-dimensional reconstruction of the maxillary ridge and its relationship to intra- and extra-oral esthetics. Dr Bahat reviews aspects of intra- and extra-oral objectives, guidelines for surgical planning, soft tissue management and three-dimensional bone grafting and reconstruction techniques, extra-oral esthetic guidelines, and discusses treatment sequences, selection of donor sites, site preparation and stabilization techniques. Blood supply is the most critical factor to successful 3D grafting and surgical skills and optimal decision making are critical for successful results. Dr Bahat concludes that intra-oral surgical reconstruction will influence and enhance the lower third facial esthetics, and esthetic outcome of all techniques for final restoration without surgical reconstruction is always a compromise.
