The fourth dimension of surgical reconstruction with implants involves development of an adjusted surgical protocol, which is time dependent and accounts for normal physiological changes of the skull and face. Previous treatment in 3-D did not address the possibilities of these dynamic movements which occasionally resulted in an esthetic and functional compromise. A modified surgical protocol, to anticipate these permutations is needed. A revised approach for implant positioning, soft tissue and bone grafting to compensate for these positional changes will be presented.
Dr. Oded Bahat graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand School of Medicine and Dentistry in South Africa in 1977.
