Dental implants have evolved dramatically over the last decade, and so have our expectations in terms of function and aesthetics. The augmentation of soft tissue around dental implants for enhancing inter-implant papilla architecture has emerged as an area of much concern and focus; our thought regarding the re-establishment of a normal scalloped contour has changed.
Anatomical characteristics, soft tissue responses, and clinical skill are the fundamental principles in augmenting soft tissue.
This presentation will focus on the management of soft tissue after implant placement including 3D digital planning to visualize the potential for an esthetic outcome, surgical techniques, paths of incision and, useful instruments for soft tissue sculpturing.
Dr. Giorgio Tabanella was named the outstanding periodontal graduate student research in surgery and implantology by the California Society of Periodontists for his study on bone remodeling. He is the Scientific Coordinator of the International Implant Conference, Director of the Oral Reconstruction and Education Center, and a reviewer and author of original articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, Journal of American Dental Association, Journal of Inflammation, World Journal of Stomatology, Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research. Dr. Tabanella lectures in Europe, Asia and the US on implant and periodontal surgery, esthetic management in dental implants and periodontal therapy, peri-implant bone remodeling and both soft and hard tissue reconstruction. His research focuses on tissue regeneration and augmentation with diferent bone and soft graft materials as well as peri-implant and dental bone loss. He maintains a private practice in Rome, Italy, where he also holds advanced courses and live surgeries on tissue regeneration for limited numbers of participants.
