Franck Renouard: Alternatives to bone augmentation
Video highlights
- Evaluation of treatment alternatives to bone augmentation
- Predictability, morbidity and feasibility of short, tilted and zyomatic implants
- Review of indications
- New York 2013 symposium lecture
The lecture reviews the main alternative treatment options to bone augmentation, short implants, tilted implants and zyogmatic implants, and evaluates predictabiilty, morbidity and feasibility for each of such implant treatment procedure. Literature review shows, that predictibilty is high for all options, as well as morbidity. Short implants may show complications of implant loss and difficulty of being replaced when lost, Tilted implant may show fractures and complications associated with their typical placement close to anatomic sensible structures. Zygomatic implants show only a small complication rate in quantity, however if complications arise, they are usually considerable. In terms of feasibility cliniclans need to take their experience into account, if they are able to perform the treatment properly. Dr Renouard concludes, that short implants are indicated for single, partial and edentulous, tilted implant placement for partial and edentulous, and zygomatic implants for edentulous indications.
