For a variety of reasons, there has been an increasing trend towards cement-retained restorations over the last decade, notwithstanding the concomitant increase in biological and mechanical complications. This trend is now rapidly reversing, as clinicians better appreciate the biological and material science needs for restoration retrievability along with new technologies that enable correction of unfavorable implant angulations. This presentation will address the various issues surrounding the choice of cement versus screw retention and highlight the new technologies and restorative approaches available.
