Christian Coachman: Smile design and material selection for white and pink esthetics over implants
Video highlights
- Smile design as the primary principle of a restorative treatment plan
- Facially driven treatment plan and surgery-guided smile design as an evolution of guided surgery
- Esthetic challenges when using a facebow
- Esthetic and low invasive potential of pink restoration materials in case of tissue defects
Dr Coachman develops how the smile design can be the primary principle of a restorative treatment plan, and how nowadays technologies assist us in achieving predictable esthetic restorations adressing functional and biologic aspects at the same time. Guided surgery is at times misguided surgery from a smile design perspective and Dr Coachman explains how to optimize this approach into a facially driven treatment plan and a surgery guided smile design, taking into account paramaters like corrrect tooth shapes and axis, smile lines, soft tissue levels, buccal corridors etc. Supported by several challenging patient treatment examples, Dr Coachman explains how to easily develop digital smile designs and digital mock-ups with e.g. Powerpoint or Keynote programs, how to transfer these informations to the technician model and how to successfully communicate the smile design and treatment plan within the dental team.
