In recognition of his fight against the Noma disease, Bertrand Piccard is the first recipient of the FOR humanity award. In this introductory presentation during the FOR inauguration in June 2013, Bertrand Piccard presents his involvement and activities within his humanitarian engagement with Winds of Hope against the Noma disease, as well as his striving for the development of clean energy as expressed by the Solar Impulse airplane. Bertrand Piccard gives insight in his activities with national health programs in African countries against Noma, treatment and prevention options and modalities, and education and involvement of the local population in such programs. Based on his experiences as a record braking balloon pilot, Bertrand Piccard compares life with a balloon flight, to change direction it is important and critical to drop ballast and change altitude, and encourages people to have a pioneering, exploration, innovation and imagination spirit.
