In Dr. Bertil Friberg’s presentation, he discusses ways in which treatment protocols can be improved to the benefit of the patient. Dr. Friberg focuses on developments in the field of implant dentistry. One advancement is implant surface modification; he discusses its impact on reduced treatment time, lower early implant failure, and improved results in poor bone quality. Another advancement is new grafting materials that no longer require harvesting from extraoral sites for sinus elevation or ridge augmentation procedures. With the advancement of implant designs, grafting materials and surgical devices, implant therapy has become increasingly predictable.
