Andrew Dawood: Impact of imaging on treatment planning
Video highlights
- Optimize diagnostic options and creative solutions with 3D tools
- CBCT is becoming the dominant imaging modality in implant treatment
- Accuracy of surgery depends upon stability and fit of radiographic and surgical guides
- New York 2013 symposium lecture
The lecture gives insight in the tremendous change, advanced imaging techniques can provide to implant dentistry and dentistry in general. Dr Dawood presents examples where 3D visualization is able to reveal surprising diagnostic findings having a strong influence on treatment decision, planning and implementation, such as tooth fracture lines, vascularization of the fractured roots, bone canals, additional vessel and nerve canals. 3D planning is becoming prevalent, and ways how to minimize radiation doses are discussed. The digital diagnostics and planning information can be transformed to the treatment situation with guided surgery. Accuracy depends upon stability and fit of the radiographic and surgical guides.
