Implant placement and guided bone regeneration in the anterior area of the mandible

A 55-year-old male patient desired replacement of a previously extracted, missing lower canine #43 FDI (#27 US) which had not been previously restored (no bridge, no provisional restoration). The main objective of the treatment was the functional and esthetic rehabilitation of the lower canine area. The treatment option chosen was the placement of an implant in the canine edentulous gap with horizontal and vertical bone augmentation to gain the necessary bone volume for the optimal implant position.

The preliminary treatment planning included: periodontal therapy, implant placement with simultaneous horizontal ridge augmentation, provisionalization with an acrylic temporary single crown, delayed loading after 4-6 months, definitive full ceramic restoration, follow-up and maintenance therapy every 4-5 months.
