Esthetic and functional aspects in a full mouth rehabilitation

A 62-year-old male patient was generally not pleased with his existing dentition. He presented with a long history of periodontitis which resulted in extensive gingival recessions compromising the aesthetics. Furthermore in the posterior region the poorly executed prosthetic restorations were limiting both function and mastication. The present treatment plan involved a combination of implant- and tooth-supported restorations to only remove and replace the non-salvageable teeth.

The definitive treatment plan included the following procedures:

Extractions of lower right molars #46,47 (FDI) / #30, 31 (US) and socket seals after extraction. Endodontic revisions on teeth #14,16,24,27,44 (FDI) / #3,5,12,15,28 with a post&core solution and single crowns.

Implant placement to replace tooth #15 (FDI) / #4 (US). Further implant placements combined with horizontal guided bone regeneration (GBR) to replace teeth #25,26,45,47 (FDI) / #12,13,29,31 (US).

The upper bicuspids and molar were restored with single crowns on implants. The implants placed in the lower right quadrant were restored with a fixed partial denture (bridge).

The upper front teeth were restored with veneers. In the lower front, composite material was used for immediate restoration.
