Marc Quirynen
Biography
Professor Dr. Marc Quirynen received his dental degree in 1980 and his education and training in periodontology in 1984, and his PhD in 1986 all from the Catholic University of Leuven. In 1990 he was appointed Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Leuven where he teaches periodontology and anatomy. His research focus has been in oral microbiology investigating the influence of surface characteristics on bacterial adhesion and the effect of antiseptics, oral malodor, simplification and optimization of periodontal therapy including implant surgery. He has published more than 300 articles in international peer-reviewed journals including, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology where he is Associate Editor, the Clinical Oral implants Research, the Journal of Dental Research, and the Periodontal Practice Today and Parodontologie.
