Keith Horner
Biography
Keith Horner is Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Imaging at The University of Manchester (UK) and a Consultant in Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He qualified as a dentist at Leeds University in 1981 and did his specialist training in radiology at King’s College Hospital in London. He joined the staff at the School of Dentistry in Manchester in 1988. His clinical work includes provision of a hospital-based Cone Beam CT service. His research includes aspects of Cone Beam CT, but also bone density and osteoporosis and aspects of radiation protection in dental imaging. He has around 150 papers in refereed scientific journals. He has a long-standing interest in evidence-based guideline development and coordinated the development of European Commission guidelines on Radiation Protection in Dental Radiology in 2004 and Dental Cone beam CT in 2012. He has also led or contributed to several other national and European guidelines and position papers. He has served as President of the British Society of Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology and is President-elect of the European Academy of DentoMaxilloFacial Radiology
